And in only six
months? We've accomplished a ton -
over fifty press mentions worldwide, a full-page ad in The
Hollywood Reporter paid for by thousands of fans,
another full-page ad in Variety (the April
25, 2003 edition), and serious response from networks such
as Trio, Sci-Fi and Fox.
So we're accomplishing
great things, and believe in what we're doing -
now more than ever, when those who love good genre programming
find the current landscape a wasteland. X-Files,
Buffy and Farscape are gone, Angel
is on the bubble (in spite of its best season yet), and
this superb show Miracles, which received truly outstanding
reviews, wasn't even given a chance to run past six episodes.
Genre fans are
among the most loyal you'll find anywhere -
the kinds of fans who score demographically in the 18-34
numbers, who seek out to patronize and reward advertisers,
and who consistently demonstrate willingness to follow a
show no matter where it lands.
After all, it's
been done before.
Look at other
successes like Cagney and Lacey, Roswell and
Farscape (their fan campaign offers a fantastic website
at SaveFarscape.com, among many others).
In short? We
believe the fan campaign is a new part of television history
-
a way for television viewers to, at
long last,
have some say in rescuing programs that deserve to be saved
-
and seen.
In other words,
we're on a crusade. Feel free to join in -
we just might change the history of television.
