HISTORY

Just what happened to MiraclesTV.com?

We know things have been a little confusing out there in the Miracles fandom world lately, to say the least. Posts at different fansites, forums and discussion groups seem to point fans in different directions for the official campaign.

So here's the scoop -- a quick overview of our evolution over the past eight months from the founders of the movement, and how our newest site, MiraclesHQ.com, relates to our original site MiraclesTV.com (and why MiraclesTV.com is no longer affiliated with us in any way).

Following several smaller efforts (including the terrific online poll created by fan Leigh Lewallen), the original core group of "Save Miracles" -- Lara Giesbers, Angela Mitchell, Heather LaFlame, Candace Callen, Peter "Spin79" Tretter and Kimberley Martins, along with Anne-Marie Cabral, Selina Asgar and Regina Loveless -- got together in the first few days of April, 2003, to help facilitate a major push by fans to networks, and to find Miracles a new network home. The goal was to combine several small SOS campaigns into one large one, spearheaded with a major pro bono PR effort by Mitchell and her firm.

On April 6, the group picked web professional Terri "Twister116" Jones for its webmaster, from among several Miracles fans and web designers offering to donate and manage a web site for the group. Jones became the

webmaster and newest member of the core group, and helped to create a terrific site as the online home for the "Save Miracles" campaign for several months. Jones generously offered to cover the necessary fees to launch the site as her donation to the effort, with the "Save Miracles" group covering the site's server fees, at her request, to help alleviate some of those costs.

By Fall, 2003, the "Save Miracles" effort included thousands of fans, as well as new Core Group members Deejay "AlvaFan" Driscoll and Sherri "Devisun" Washburn, and had garnered dozens of media articles and stories to date, including the official endorsement of show creator Richard Hatem and his team.

However, at this point, Jones voiced her objection to continuing any SOS (a/k/a "Save our Show") efforts by the "Save Miracles" group, wishing instead to evolve MiraclesTV.com into a pure fan site. As the conversations continued, Jones began to make several major administrative changes to the web site as well, using her position as webmaster to do so regardless of group feedback as a whole. In the meantime, the SOS aspect became a major point of contention -- not unusual in a fan campaign. However, no compromises could be reached, and on September 22, Tretter, Cabral and Asgar sent E-mails to formally resign from the "Save Miracles" group, joined with a resignation by Jones on September 26, 2003.

We were all sorry to see anyone leave the group, but understood their need to step away. In the meantime, while attempts were made by the remaining majority to resolve the situation amicably, as of October, 2003, Jones issued an ultimatum. She announced that she was "taking back" the web site founded for the group, MiraclesTV.com, as well as all webmail accounts and administrative privileges -- thus making it impossible for the core group to gain access to both personal and Miracles-related emails, or make any further updates or changes to the site.

The main core group for "Save Miracles", including the campaign's founders -- Mitchell, Giesbers, LaFlame, Callen, Martins, as well as Driscoll and Washburn -- found itself in a quandary: It could file suit to regain the web site and mirror sites purchased for its use. Or it could do the nice thing, and simply walk away.

So we, the founders of the "Save Miracles" effort, chose to walk away from MiraclesTV.com, even if it meant redoing all of the work that went into the original site -- work that now had to be done a second time. And, on the good side, the new web site meant a revitalization of efforts and ideas, a bigger fanbase, and several enthusiastic and motivated new core group members, including Heather "Rekka" Link, Courtney "Ravenlilith" Campbell, Theresa "ducky" Riddle, "Keelfan"/ Palakika, Laurel "Sailorhathor" Wilson, Lori "Cleapet" Bridges, Laura "tooky" McDonald, and Sandra "GothykRedd" Skinner.

The result? While we wish them well, MiraclesTV.com is no longer affiliated with us in any way. The site is comprised of Jones and a few other group members, who continue (despite their written resignations from the group) to promote themselves as heading -- and continuing -- the "Save Miracles" effort. (The irony that the group division began because this contingent emphatically opposed any SOS activity continuation at all hasn't been lost on those of us at MiraclesHQ.com.)

As the newest home for the "Save Miracles" campaign, MiraclesHQ.com is a new site, for an old movement -- the continuation of our efforts to save this terrific show since April 6, 2003 -- and remains the only official group and web site sanctioned by Rich Hatem himself.

And so in MiraclesHQ.com, an old journey has a new beginning. We are grateful for your participation and enthusiasm, and invite your questions, comments and ideas, as always. Walk along with us to see that Miracles will indeed happen!
